Specialist short breaks
We provide vital respite stays for local children, young adults and families.
Naomi House
Babies and children in our care have access to specialist short breaks up to a total of 14 nights each year.
Parents/guardians can use these nights differently according to your needs. You may choose to stay at our centre and enjoy a rest, home cooked meals and time to be ‘mum and dad’ alongside siblings too, whilst the Nurses and Carers take over your child’s nursing needs, medications etc. Our families have described their short breaks together as a holiday.
Staying at Naomi House makes such a difference to me. It means I can actually breathe and let myself relax because I know that the staff are highly trained, so it’s not down to me to watch every little thing that Logan-Ann is doing. It helps me unwind and I go home refreshed and more settled in myself. It’s just a pleasure to be there.”

Or your child can stay with us while you take the opportunity to travel, stay at home or spend time with a partner or their other children, safe in the knowledge your child is being looked after by our specialist team.
Our Play and Activities team are always on hand to organise activities appropriate for all the children that stay, tailored to individual interests and abilities.
We also have a hydrotherapy pool where families can enjoy a swim together, or a child can have specialist hydrotherapy with the support of our Physiotherapy Team. The pool is heated to 34 degrees, and features sensory lights and equipment, a hoist, a disco ball and speakers for music!
Our Family Support Team are also available for children, parents/guardians and siblings during these stays. Find out more about our Family Support Team.

Jack's Place
Young adults in our care have access to specialist short breaks up to a total of 14 nights each year.
Jack’s Place provides an environment which is free of barriers and promotes independence, so the young adults that visit usually stay for respite on their own.
When you visit us for a specialist short break, you will be cared for by our highly trained carers and nurses who specialise in complex care.
You will have the opportunity to socialise and meet others in similar situations, which is an incredibly important part of Jack’s Place. You’ll have the chance to get involved in activities together, hosted by our Play and Activities Team who hosted a variety of activities that cater for everyone’s abilities and interests.
You will also be able to use our hydrotherapy pool during your stay. Some of the young adults in our care use the pool for a relaxing float, some use it together and have a splash filled pool party, and some people use it for hydrotherapy with the support of our Physiotherapy Team.
I can feel the benefit for weeks after one session in the hydrotherapy pool at Jack's Place

During specialist short breaks, you will also have access to our Family Support Team and our Specialist Palliative Care team.
