Naomi House

Our specialist centre for babies and children with complex medical needs from birth to 16 years old. We offer specialist care and support as well as the chance to play, have fun and experience different activities. We support the whole family, giving children, parents and siblings the chance to make precious memories together.

I’m so glad we asked Naomi House for their support as it has helped us as a family so much and brought so much joy into our daughters’ lives. It’s such a happy place and everything is geared towards creating the best experiences for our child whilst in their care.

What we offer

At Naomi House we offer specialist short breaks (respite) where families can stay all together, or they can leave their child safe in the knowledge that they will be expertly cared for.

Sometimes families will come together to enjoy a holiday, with their referred child being cared for by our specialist team, whilst the rest of the family stays in the family accommodation within the building. This enables the family to enjoy time, space and activities together without having to worry about the practicalities of everyday life, and parents can focus on just being mum and dad, not carers. Meals are cooked for the family by our highly skilled Catering Team, and families leave with a suitcase full of clean washing, prepared by our Housekeeping Team.

Sometimes parents may also choose to have a break with their other children or perhaps spend time with each other. Or to simply rest and recharge their batteries, as most of the parents that come to our centres provide care for their child 24 hours a day. They can relax in the knowledge that their child is being cared for in an environment where all their needs can be met, and they can enjoy unique activities and experiences organised solely for them and their abilities.

In addition, we provide family support, therapeutic support, play and activities, social events and trips out.

We are always there for end-of-life care, with services available 24 hours, 365 days a year.

When I come to Naomi House, I know there is a warm greeting and a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere that is full of joy. I get a happy feeling when I walk through the doors and hear the sounds of the children playing.

Facilities

Naomi House has 11 children’s bedrooms and family accommodation.

Additionally, our state-of-the-art building includes spaces for music, art and messy play, as well as a space to dine as a family, enjoy snuggly storytime together or just relax and play.

The children in our care love to visit our sensory room where they can enjoy fun in the ball pit, a relax on the water bed, have fun with the interactive 'magic carpet' and explore the aroma therapy fan and lights panel. All while enjoying the sensory lights in the room, vibrant bubble wall and colourful fibre optic lights.

We also have a hydrotherapy pool where families can enjoy a swim together, or a child can have specialist hydrotherapy with the support of our Physiotherapy Team. The pool is heated to 34 degrees, and features sensory lights and equipment, a hoist, a disco ball and speakers for music. Some of the children in our care can't swim in a public pool, so can swim for the first time with their family at Naomi House.

Play and activities

Play is an essential part of the lives of the children that visit Naomi House. It brings their imagination to life, allows them to communicate, interact, express and explore the world around them.

Our Play and Activities Team offer a diverse programme of daily activities designed to promote enjoyment, social interaction and meaningful experiences. These activities also support care needs by providing positive distraction, assisting with physiotherapy programmes, and meeting sensory and social development needs.

We also host large-scale celebrations throughout the year, such as a summer fête for our families. This is in addition to seasonal events such as Christmas, Easter etc.

Our Play and Activities Team are dedicated to enhancing experiences, opportunities and the quality of life for the families in our care. They create opportunities within a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, ensuring that every individual can participate, explore and enjoy meaningful experiences.

Day Service

We also have Day Service where children can come in just for the day with their family or carer, to spend time in a safe, supportive environment where they can meet other families in similar situations, socialise and engage in a range of structured and enjoyable activities.

At Day Service, our Play and Activities Team offers a variety of themed sessions designed to support both developmental and social needs. Activities include cooking, arts and crafts, sensory play, games and technology-based activities.

Day Services also create opportunities for children and families to experience unique and engaging visits from external providers, such as mobile farms, performance artists, reptile encounters and other interactive experiences.

At Day Service, children can also enjoy a session in our hydrotherapy pool.

In addition to the activities provided, Day Services offer valuable opportunities for social interaction. Families can connect with others who share similar experiences, while also engaging with members of the wider multidisciplinary team to access guidance and support where needed, including our Family Support Team and Physiotherapy Team.
