Safeguarding
The welfare of children and vulnerable adults is paramount in all the work we do.
In all the decisions we take, children and vulnerable adults have an equal right to protection from all types of harm or abuse, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
We have a clear process for raising well-being and safeguarding concerns which is accessible to anyone in the organisation and includes a process for reporting concerns about staff and volunteers.
Safeguarding forms an important part of our recruitment, induction and training processes and we continue to review, develop and educate ourselves on developments and changes in this area.
Our Safeguarding Policy
We have a Safeguarding Policy and a Safeguarding Manual (subject to regular review) in place to ensure we protect the children, young people and adults who receive Wessex Children’s Hospice services (known as Naomi and Jacks) from harm. This includes all adults and children who come in to contact with our services in any capacity.
The Safeguarding Policy is designed to provide all staff and volunteers, as well as children, young people, adults and their families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to safeguarding and apply to anyone working on behalf of Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust, , including senior managers and the Board of Trustees, paid staff in all areas of the Trust, volunteers, sessional workers, agency staff and students, care and non-care staff.
External (i.e. not Wessex Hospital Trust) professionals, and official visitors, including celebrities and VIPs, will be in the continual presence of a member of the Wessex Children’s Hospice staff team to chaperone them.
If you would like to know more, or discuss a wellbeing or safeguarding concern please contact a Designated Safeguarding Lead on 01962 760555 or email us: safeguarding@naomihouse.org.uk
